It is good to wait quietly for deliverance from the LORD. (Lamentations 3:26)
This is not the quietness of a closed mouth or prayer-less soul, but the quietness of being calmed by trust in God's tactics and timing. So many would rather live in the poverty of rebellion, rather than having their guilt exposed so they can receive the riches of mercy and grace.
Your prophets saw visions for you that were empty and deceptive; they did not reveal your guilt and so restore your fortunes. They saw oracles for you that were empty and misleading. (Lamentations 2:14) It is not egotistical for One to exclusively offer Himself to those from whom He wants exclusive allegiance and devotion, when He Himself is the best Gift He can give as the Source of infinite joy.
Do you want a true assessment of your worth? Those of this world tell you that you are worth gaining the whole world for yourself. Jesus tells you that gaining the whole world is not worth losing yourself forever.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will save it. What is a man benefited if he gains the whole world, yet loses or forfeits himself? (Luke 9:24-25) May His Word saturate our souls so that we don't think a single thought not enlightened by it, nor speak a single word not inspired by it, nor do a single deed not instructed by it.
I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11) As regards intellectual opposition to the Gospel, truth will ultimately triumph; for in the end 'God has said' will surely stand against 'man has thought'. ~Charles Spurgeon
I don't want to be a phenomenon. I just want to be phenomenal in exalting the only true Phenomenon the world has ever seen. He deserves no less.
