Can a church call a divorced man to be its pastor and still be a biblical church? That is what we are going to consider in this message, in looking at the qualification of a man being the husband of one wife. Having myself been disregarded for pastoral leadership by other churches, due to being regarded as disqualified by divorce, I want to directly deal with the question of whether or not Paul’s words here disqualify a man for pastoral leadership.

5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you,
6 namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife... (NASB)
